My mom requests this every year for her special day. The meat falls apart and that au jus is absolutely incredible. This easy slow cooker French dip recipe is rich, juicy, and unbelievably simple.

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1 can beef consommé or beef broth
  • Hoagie rolls or sandwich buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef roast into the slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle au jus gravy mix over the roast.
  3. Pour beef consommé or broth on top.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 5 hours.
  5. Shred the beef using two forks.
  6. Toast sandwich rolls if desired.
  7. Pile shredded beef onto rolls and serve with cooking juices for dipping.

Optional Additions

  • Provolone cheese
  • Caramelized onions
  • Garlic butter toasted rolls
  • Hot peppers
Tip: Let the shredded beef soak in the au jus for 10 minutes before serving for maximum flavor.
