Smothered Burger Steaks Slow Cooker

These smothered burger steaks cook low and slow in a rich onion gravy until perfectly tender. A hearty comfort food dinner the whole family will ask for again and again.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Form ground beef into thick oval patties.
  2. Place sliced onions and garlic into the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Lay burger steaks on top.
  4. In a bowl, mix beef broth, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the burger steaks.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
  7. Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the slow cooker during the last 15 minutes to thicken the gravy.
  8. Serve hot with gravy spooned over the top.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with mashed potatoes
  • Pair with rice or buttered noodles
  • Add steamed green beans on the side

Tip: Browning the burger steaks in a skillet before slow cooking adds even deeper flavor.
