Old-Fashioned Banana Pudding ๐
A classic Southern favorite โ creamy, sweet, and layered with love ๐
๐ Ingredients
- 3 cups whole milk
- ยฝ cup granulated sugar
- ยผ cup all-purpose flour
- ยผ teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4โ5 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafers (about 11 oz)
- Whipped cream or meringue topping (optional)

- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 8โ10 minutes).
- Temper the beaten egg yolks by stirring in a few tablespoons of the hot mixture, then pour them back into the pan.
- Continue cooking for 2โ3 more minutes until thick and creamy. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
- In a large serving dish or trifle bowl, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding. Repeat until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
- Top with whipped cream or meringue if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving. Enjoy cold and creamy!
