Slow Cooker Chicken Drumsticks and Rice

Slow Cooker Chicken Drumsticks and Rice

A simple dump-and-go family dinner where chicken drumsticks cook slowly over seasoned rice in a creamy broth until everything is tender and flavorful.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken drumsticks
  • 1½ cups uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the slow cooker.
  2. Spread the uncooked rice evenly across the bottom.
  3. Arrange the chicken drumsticks on top of the rice.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, onion soup mix, and black pepper.
  5. Pour the mixture evenly over the chicken and rice.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  7. Check that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F).
  8. Fluff the rice gently and serve hot.

Optional Additions

  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Serves 4–6 people.
