4-Ingredient Onion Braised Beef Roast
4-Ingredient Onion Braised Beef Roast
My mom requested this melt-in-your-mouth dinner for her special Sunday. Just 4 ingredients for one of the most tender beef meals you’ll ever make.
Ingredients
- 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed beef broth
Instructions
- Place the sliced onions in the bottom of a slow cooker.
- Set the beef roast on top of the onions.
- Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the roast.
- Pour the condensed beef broth around the meat.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or HIGH for 5–6 hours.
- Once fork-tender, transfer the roast to a cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Slice or shred the beef.
- Spoon the caramelized onions and rich gravy over the meat before serving.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered egg noodles.
- Pair with roasted carrots or green beans.
- Use leftovers for sandwiches the next day.
Tip: For a thicker gravy, remove 1 cup of cooking liquid, whisk with 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and simmer until thickened before serving.
