A simple, hearty comfort dish made by mixing ground beef with cornmeal and a few pantry staples. This recipe creates a rich, slightly thick, and deeply satisfying meal perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Place the ground beef directly into the slow cooker.

Add the chopped onion and sprinkle in the cornmeal evenly over the meat.

Season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Pour the beef broth over everything to help it cook and create a rich sauce.

Gently mix the ingredients together inside the slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours.

Stir once before serving to combine the thickened texture from the cornmeal.

Serving

Serve hot on its own, or with bread, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.

Result

A warm, rustic dish with tender beef and a slightly thick, comforting texture thanks to the cornmeal—easy, budget-friendly, and full of flavor.
