Quick & Easy Chinese-Style Tender Beef Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 450g (1 lb) of thinly sliced beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef:

In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and allow the beef to marinate for 15 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderness.

2. Stir-Fry the Beef:

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.

3. Cook the Vegetables:

In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. SautƩ the minced garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Then, add the bell pepper and onion, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.

4. Combine and Finish:

Return the cooked beef to the wok. Add sesame oil, sugar, salt, and pepper, and stir well to ensure everything is evenly mixed. Cook for another 2 minutes, until heated through and fully coated with the sauce.

5. Serve:

Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot alongside rice or noodles. A side of steamed vegetables pairs perfectly with this dish.

Storage Tips:

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, simply warm the dish in a pan over medium heat until fully heated through.

Tips for Success:

  • Beef Slicing: Ensure the beef is sliced thinly to maintain tenderness.
  • Marinating: Don’t skip the marination stepā€”this helps tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor.
  • High Heat: Stir-frying at high heat is essential for searing the beef and keeping it tender.

Health Benefits:

  • Protein: Beef provides high-quality protein essential for muscle growth and repair.
  • Vitamins and Minerals: It is rich in essential nutrients like iron, zinc, and B vitamins.
  • Vegetables: Bell peppers and onions add fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants to the meal, enhancing its nutritional value.
