Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes Skillet Recipe
Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes Skillet Recipe
Ingredients
- For the Steak and Potatoes:
- 650g sirloin steak, sliced
- 650g small yellow potatoes, quartered
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 teaspoon oregano, chopped
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- For the Marinade:
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- Ground black pepper to taste
Preparation
- Marinate the Steak: In a large bowl, combine the sliced steak with soy sauce, olive oil, ground black pepper, and hot sauce. Allow the mixture to marinate while you prepare the potatoes.
- Cook the Potatoes: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the quartered potatoes. Cook for about 4 minutes, then stir and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes until the potatoes are golden and tender. Transfer the cooked potatoes to a plate and set aside.
- Prepare the Steak: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, crushed garlic, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and fresh herbs. Arrange the marinated steak in a single layer in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Reserve the remaining marinade for later. Cook the steak for about 1 minute on each side, adjusting the cooking time to your preferred doneness.
- Combine and Finish: Just before the steak is fully cooked, pour in the reserved marinade and let it simmer for about a minute. Add the potatoes back to the skillet to warm them up. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve: Turn off the heat and serve the dish immediately, garnished with crushed red pepper flakes and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired.
