A timeless comfort dish with tender chicken, creamy rice, and a savory onion topping. Perfect for family dinners and easy to customize!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups instant rice (white or brown)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) water (use empty soup can to measure)
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing pan)

Optional Additions

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Frozen vegetables
  • Diced cooked chicken (instead of whole breasts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set to 350°F / 175°C.
  2. Prepare baking dish: Grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter.
  3. Mix base: In a bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, water, and rice. Stir well.
  4. Assemble: Pour rice mixture into baking dish. Place chicken breasts on top.
  5. Season: Sprinkle onion soup mix evenly over chicken.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake 1 to 1½ hours, until chicken is cooked through and rice is tender.
  7. Optional finish: Uncover for last 10 minutes and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Serve: Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy straight from the pan!
