Southern Pecan Pie Bread Pudding 🤎

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread (or 8 cups cubed bread)
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1½ cups pecan halves
  • Pinch of salt

Pecan Pie Topping

  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13″ baking dish.
  2. Prepare bread base: Cube the bread and spread evenly in the dish.
  3. Make custard: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour evenly over bread. Let it soak for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Add topping: In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, pecans, and vanilla. Spread evenly over the soaked bread mixture.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes or until golden and set in the center.
  6. Cool slightly: Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving warm.

Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream — truly irresistible!
