Creamy Cabbage Soup

π₯¬ Creamy Cabbage Soup
This dish always makes my house smell so good. It’s a huge hit! π
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter π§
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced π₯
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced π§
- 4 cups cabbage, chopped
- 3 medium potatoes, diced π₯
- 1 cup ham or bacon, diced (optional) π₯©
- 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half π₯
- 1 tsp salt π§
- Β½ tsp black pepper
- Β½ tsp thyme (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish πΏ
Instructions
- SautΓ© Veggies: In a large pot, melt butter. Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened.
- Add Cabbage & Potatoes: Stir in chopped cabbage and diced potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add Broth & Simmer: Pour in broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer 20β25 minutes until potatoes are tender.
- Creamy Finish: Stir in cream, ham or bacon (if using), salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer another 5 minutes.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and black pepper. Serve hot with crusty bread π₯.
