Snowball Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus extra for coating
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
Required Equipment:
- Mixing bowls
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper (optional)
- Wire rack for cooling
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or leave it ungreased.
- Mix Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar until the mixture becomes smooth and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and stir to combine.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, blending until well combined. Fold in the chopped nuts, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Shape the Cookies: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, placing them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake the cookies for 14 to 18 minutes, or until they are lightly golden at the edges.
- Coat in Sugar: Remove the cookies from the oven and, while still warm, roll them in powdered sugar. Allow them to cool on a wire rack, then roll them in powdered sugar once more for a final coating.
These delicate, crumbly snowball cookies have a delightful melt-in-your-mouth texture, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy the baking process, and feel free to reach out for any further recipe modifications!
