Smothered Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups fresh spinach
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the Bacon: In the same skillet, cook the chopped bacon slices until crispy. Once done, remove the bacon and place it on paper towels to drain excess grease.
- SautƩ the Mushrooms: Using the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes or until they become tender.
- Make the Creamy Sauce: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Add the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce starts to thicken.
- Incorporate Spinach: Add the fresh spinach and cook until it wilts. Then, stir in the garlic and onion powders, ensuring the flavors are well mixed.
- Bring It All Together: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning the creamy sauce over the top. Sprinkle the crispy bacon over the chicken, allowing the dish to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Serve hot and enjoy!
