Slow Cooker Cola Pulled Pork
Slow Cooker Cola Pulled Pork
This effortless slow cooker pulled pork is incredibly tender and juicy. Cola helps tenderize the meat while barbecue seasoning adds rich flavor, creating a roast that practically falls apart with a fork. Perfect for sandwiches, tacos, rice bowls, or a hearty family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 (4–6 lb) pork butt (Boston butt or pork shoulder)
- 1 (12 oz) bottle cola (regular, not diet)
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Place the pork butt into a 6- to 8-quart slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the onion soup mix, smoked paprika, and black pepper over the pork.
- Pour the bottle of cola around and over the meat.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or HIGH for 5–6 hours, until the pork is fork-tender.
- Transfer the pork to a cutting board and shred with two forks, removing excess fat if desired.
- Discard most of the cooking liquid, leaving about 1 cup in the slow cooker.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir in the barbecue sauce.
- Cook on HIGH for an additional 20–30 minutes until heated through and well coated.
