Sausage, Rich Gravy, and Biscuit Pie 🤤

“Flaky, golden pie crust layered with creamy sausage gravy — comfort food at its finest!”

This indulgent pie combines savory sausage, creamy gravy, and buttery biscuit crust for a Southern-inspired dish that’s rich, hearty, and irresistible. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (top and bottom layers)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Stir in butter and flour, cooking for 1–2 minutes to make a roux.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously until a thick, creamy gravy forms. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly.
  5. Place one pie crust in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the sausage gravy mixture over it evenly.
  6. Top with the second pie crust and crimp the edges to seal. Cut small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  7. Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and flaky.
  9. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Tip: For extra flavor, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the gravy layer before sealing the pie!
