Sausage and Cream Cheese Croissants Recipe

This delicious recipe has become a favorite in our household! These croissants are a hit with my children, and I’m sure your family will love them too.

Ingredients:

Servings: 8

  • 1 lb pork sausage
  • 1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 (8 oz) tubes of crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 egg, whisked (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until fully incorporated. If desired, add in the cheddar cheese at this stage.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  5. Spoon a small amount of the sausage mixture onto the wider end of each triangle, then roll the dough toward the narrow end, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. Arrange the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Lightly brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown.
  9. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Variations and Tips:

  • For an extra kick, use spicy sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Feel free to experiment with different cheeses such as pepper jack or mozzarella for a unique flavor.
  • You can substitute crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
  • For added flavor, try mixing in finely chopped bell peppers or green onions into the filling for a delicious brunch twist.

Enjoy these warm, savory croissants as a perfect snack or a tasty addition to your next gathering!
