Sausage and Cream Cheese Croissants Recipe
This delicious recipe has become a favorite in our household! These croissants are a hit with my children, and I’m sure your family will love them too.
Ingredients:
Servings: 8
- 1 lb pork sausage
- 1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
- 2 (8 oz) tubes of crescent roll dough
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 egg, whisked (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until fully incorporated. If desired, add in the cheddar cheese at this stage.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Spoon a small amount of the sausage mixture onto the wider end of each triangle, then roll the dough toward the narrow end, pressing the edges to seal.
- Arrange the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Lightly brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
Variations and Tips:
- For an extra kick, use spicy sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
- Feel free to experiment with different cheeses such as pepper jack or mozzarella for a unique flavor.
- You can substitute crescent roll dough with puff pastry for a flakier texture.
- For added flavor, try mixing in finely chopped bell peppers or green onions into the filling for a delicious brunch twist.
Enjoy these warm, savory croissants as a perfect snack or a tasty addition to your next gathering!
