Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake

🍰 Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake

This is my favorite cake of all time — always requested, incredibly moist,
rich with butter flavor, and surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs

Butter Sauce

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a bowl.
  3. Add butter, buttermilk, vanilla, and eggs. Beat until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60–70 minutes.
  5. While cake bakes, melt butter with sugar and water. Simmer gently.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt.
  7. Poke holes in hot cake and slowly pour sauce over the top.
  8. Let cake cool before removing from pan.

Tip: This cake tastes even better the next day!
