Salisbury Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Mushroom-Onion Gravy

Ingredients – Salisbury Steak

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Ingredients – Mushroom Onion Gravy

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients – Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes with garlic until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, seasonings, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form into oval patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides, then remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and mushrooms until soft.
  6. Sprinkle in flour and stir for 1 minute.
  7. Slowly add beef broth, stirring until gravy thickens.
  8. Return patties to skillet and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  9. Serve Salisbury steak and gravy over garlic mashed potatoes.

Tip: Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy for extra depth of flavor.
