Quick and Flavorful Garlic Flatbreads
Quick and Flavorful Garlic Flatbreads
Ingredients
For the Flatbreads:
- 350g flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 60ml oil
- 120ml water
For the Garlic Oil Brushing:
- Pressed garlic (adjust to taste)
- A little oil
- Fresh herbs to taste (such as parsley, cilantro, or rosemary)
Preparation
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Add the oil and water, and mix until a smooth dough forms. Knead the dough until it is soft and pliable. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If itās too dry, incorporate a bit more water.
- Shape the Flatbreads: Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball into flatbreads about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick, depending on your preference.
- Cook the Flatbreads: Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, place a flatbread in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly puffed. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Prepare the Garlic Oil: In a small bowl, combine a little oil with pressed garlic and your chosen herbs. This will be your garlic-herb brushing mixture.
- Brush and Serve: While the flatbreads are still warm, brush the garlic oil mixture over the top of each flatbread. This will infuse them with a rich, garlicky herb flavor.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve warm as a standalone treat or with your favorite soups and stews.
- Use as a base for quick personal pizzas.
- Wrap around sandwiches or gyros for a flavorful twist.
- Pair with dips such as hummus, tzatziki, or baba ganoush for an enhanced dining experience.
