🎄 Flaky, golden, and filled with melty cheese & herby pesto — a festive showstopper for your holiday table!

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 tbsp basil pesto
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or grated Gruyère
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Garnish

  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Pomegranate seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Heat to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare pastry: Place one puff pastry sheet on a flat surface. Spread pesto evenly over it and sprinkle cheese on top.
  3. Assemble: Place the second pastry sheet on top and press lightly to seal the edges.
  4. Shape the tree: Cut into a large triangle and use the scraps to make a star for the top.
  5. Twist branches: Slice horizontal strips along both sides of the triangle, leaving the center intact, then twist each strip.
  6. Brush & bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 20–25 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  7. Garnish: Add rosemary sprigs and pomegranate seeds before serving.

• Substitute red pesto for a festive red-green look.
• Add prosciutto slices between layers for a savory twist.
• Best served warm straight from the oven — perfect for sharing!
