Pesto & Cheese Puff Pastry Christmas Tree
🎄 Flaky, golden, and filled with melty cheese & herby pesto — a festive showstopper for your holiday table!
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 4 tbsp basil pesto
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or grated Gruyère
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Garnish
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
- Pomegranate seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Heat to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
- Prepare pastry: Place one puff pastry sheet on a flat surface. Spread pesto evenly over it and sprinkle cheese on top.
- Assemble: Place the second pastry sheet on top and press lightly to seal the edges.
- Shape the tree: Cut into a large triangle and use the scraps to make a star for the top.
- Twist branches: Slice horizontal strips along both sides of the triangle, leaving the center intact, then twist each strip.
- Brush & bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 20–25 minutes, until puffed and golden.
- Garnish: Add rosemary sprigs and pomegranate seeds before serving.
