Soft, fluffy homemade bread made without an oven!
This pan bread is simple, comforting, and perfect for everyday meals.
๐งพ Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose wheat flour
- 330 ml water
- 10 g salt
- 5 g dry yeast or 15 g fresh yeast
- Vegetable or olive oil (for greasing)
- Optional: 2โ3 tablespoons olive oil for extra flavor and softness
๐ฉโ๐ณ Preparation โ Step by Step
1. Initial Mixing
Place the flour in a large bowl. Add the yeast and salt, mix lightly,
then gradually add the water while mixing.
Add olive oil if using. Mix with a spoon or your hands until the dough
comes together and can no longer be mixed in the bowl.
2. Kneading
Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead until smooth and elastic.
It may be slightly sticky at first but will become easier to handle.
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, knead again, rest another 10 minutes,
then finish with a short 1-minute knead.
3. First Rise
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl.
Cover with plastic wrap or a clean cloth and let it rise for
1ยฝ to 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
4. Divide the Dough
Lightly flour the work surface, place the dough on it,
and divide it into equal portions.
Shape each portion into a round.
5. Second Rest
Place the dough portions on a floured tray or surface.
Cover with a cloth and let rest for another 30 minutes.
6. Cooking in a Pan
Heat a frying pan over medium heat, then reduce to low.
Lightly grease the pan and place one dough round inside.
Cover and cook on low heat for about 12 minutes.
Flip carefully using a lightly greased plate and cook the other side
for another 12 minutes, always covered.
7. Cooling
Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack
before slicing.
This bread is perfect with meals, for sandwiches,
or simply enjoyed with butter and jam.
