A warm, comforting casserole packed with beef, potatoes, and veggies — the perfect family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) beef chunks or ground beef
  • 2 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 zucchini or bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned. Stir in tomato sauce, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  4. In the baking dish, layer potatoes, carrots, and zucchini. Pour the beef mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Add beef broth, cover with foil, and bake for 35 minutes.
  6. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions before serving.
Tip: For a creamier texture, mix in ¼ cup of heavy cream or sour cream before baking.
