Hawaiian Pineapple Beef
This is so delicious, it just melts in your mouth! I’m drooling just thinking about it 🤤
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs (700 g) beef chunks or stew meat
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (20 oz / 560 g) pineapple chunks, drained (reserve juice)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp ginger powder (or 1 tsp fresh grated ginger)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef chunks and sear until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add onions and red bell pepper. Sauté for 3–4 minutes.
- Add pineapple chunks and stir gently.
- Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic, ginger, and reserved pineapple juice. Pour over beef.
- Return beef to the pan and simmer on low for 30–40 minutes, until tender.
- Add cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce. Cook 3–5 minutes more.
- Garnish with parsley or green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice.
💡 Tips:
• You can make this in a slow cooker — cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
• Add green bell pepper for extra color.
• Substitute beef with chicken or pork for variety.
