Juicy beef patties smothered in rich, savory onion gravy — pure comfort on a plate.


📝 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Hamburger Steaks:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional garnish)

👩‍🍳 Directions

1️⃣ Form the Patties

In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
Form into 4 oval-shaped patties.

2️⃣ Sear the Steaks

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
Remove and set aside.

3️⃣ Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, melt butter.
Add sliced onions and cook slowly until golden and caramelized (about 10–12 minutes).

4️⃣ Make the Gravy

Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute.
Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring.
Add Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer until thickened.

5️⃣ Combine

Return patties to the skillet.
Spoon gravy over the top and simmer 5 minutes.

6️⃣ Serve

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
