Slow-Cooked Sweet Roast (Only 4 Ingredients)

This slow-cooked roast is unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with rich flavor.
It’s one of those recipes that tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen,
yet it requires almost no effort. Perfect for busy days, family dinners,
or whenever you want something comforting and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2–4 lb pork or beef roast
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1/2 cup beef or chicken broth (or water)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Roast

Pat the roast dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
This simple step adds a lot of flavor and helps the meat brown nicely.

2. Optional but Recommended: Sear the Meat

Heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Brown the roast for 2–3 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.
This adds a deeper, richer flavor — but you can skip it if you’re in a hurry.

3. Slow Cook

Place the roast in the slow cooker.
Pour the BBQ sauce and broth (or water) over the top.
Make sure the roast is partially submerged in the sauce so it stays moist.

Cook on:

  • LOW for 6–8 hours (best results — extra tender)
  • HIGH for 3–4 hours if you’re short on time

4. Shred or Slice

Once fully cooked, remove the roast and shred it with two forks,
or slice it if you prefer chunkier pieces.
Return the meat to the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices for maximum flavor.

5. Serve

Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or on soft buns to make BBQ sandwiches.

Tips

  • For extra sweetness, add 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar.
  • Add sliced onions for more flavor.
  • You can use chicken instead of beef or pork.
  • Let the roast rest 10 minutes before shredding — it stays juicier.
