My grandma used to cook this, and I feared the recipe was lost.
Thankfully, I stumbled upon it — and it’s tastier than ever!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place butter in a baking dish and melt it in the oven.
  3. In a bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour batter over melted butter — do not stir.
  6. Evenly spread peaches on top of the batter.
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon if using.
  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream for the full grandma-style comfort dessert experience.
