Grandma’s Chocolate Trifle Dessert

Grandma’s Chocolate Trifle Dessert 🍫🍰
“I cannot believe I finally found this recipe! My grandma would make this for holiday parties when I was a girl — I’d sneak as many as I could without being caught. A true guilty pleasure and my heart is so happy to be able to make it again! 😋”
🍫 Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (baked and cooled)
- 2 boxes (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 4 cups cold milk
- 1 (16 oz) container whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 cup crushed toffee bits or chopped candy bars (like Heath or Butterfinger)
- Caramel sauce (for drizzling, optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate pudding by mixing pudding mix with cold milk. Chill for at least 5 minutes until thickened.
- Cut the chocolate cake into cubes.
- In a large trifle bowl, layer half of the cake cubes, then half of the pudding, followed by half of the whipped topping.
- Repeat the layers once more — cake, pudding, and whipped topping.
- Top with crushed toffee bits or candy bar pieces and drizzle with caramel sauce if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve chilled and enjoy every creamy, chocolatey bite!
💡 Tip: You can substitute brownies for the cake layer for a richer dessert or add layers of crushed cookies for extra crunch!
