🧾 Ingredients

For the cake dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2–3 tbsp milk (if needed)

For the cream filling:

  • 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
  • 16 oz (450 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

For topping:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add butter, eggs, and vanilla, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into two portions (larger for bottom, smaller for top).
  4. Press the larger portion into the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan.

2️⃣ Prepare the Cream Filling

  1. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  2. In another bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Fold whipped cream into the cheese mixture until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Spread the cream filling over the dough in the pan.

3️⃣ Add Top Crust & Bake

  1. Crumble the remaining dough on top (don’t press — keep it rustic).
  2. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar.
