German Chocolate Cake π«π₯₯
βLord help me… the house smelled amazing while this baked! I could hardly wait until it cooled and I had a kitchen full of kiddos waiting to dig in! Saved a few slices for the neighbors and they were all asking for the recipe. Would be a stunner for company!β β€οΈ
π« Ingredients
- 1 package German chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake batter)
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- Β½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Β½ cups shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans

- Preheat oven according to cake mix or recipe directions. Prepare and bake cake layers as directed, then allow them to cool completely.
- In a saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 10β12 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans. Let cool until spreadable.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, add the second layer, and finish with more frosting on top and around edges if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before slicing for perfect, gooey layers!
π‘ Tip: For an extra indulgent version, drizzle with chocolate ganache before serving β it adds a glossy finish and even more flavor!
