Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 10–12 minutes). Add peas in the last 3 minutes. Drain well.
  2. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the warm milk until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.
  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
  5. Gently fold in the cooked potatoes and peas until evenly coated in sauce.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Tips 🍽️

  • For richer flavor, use half milk and half heavy cream.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for a subtle warmth.
  • Serve alongside roasted chicken or meatloaf for a comforting meal.
