🥔 Creamy German Dumplings
“My German nana taught me this recipe, and it’s been a family favorite ever since.”
These tender dumplings are pan-seared until golden, then gently simmered in a rich,
creamy sauce. Pure comfort food, perfect for cold evenings or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked potato dumplings (or bread dumplings)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup grated cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme or parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
- Add dumplings and gently brown them on all sides.
- Pour in cream and milk, reduce heat to low.
- Stir in cheese and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Finish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
