🍗 Country Fried Chicken with White Gravy
A classic Southern comfort meal — crispy fried chicken smothered
in creamy white gravy, served with cozy homestyle sides.
Ingredients
Country Fried Chicken
- 2 boneless chicken breasts, halved lengthwise
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Creamy White Gravy
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups whole milk
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
Sides
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup cooked green beans
- 1 soft breadstick or dinner roll
Instructions
- Dip chicken into buttermilk, then dredge in seasoned flour, pressing well to coat.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
- For the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk while stirring until thick and smooth.
- Season gravy with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve chicken topped with white gravy alongside mashed potatoes, green beans, and bread.
