🍗 Country Fried Chicken with White Gravy

A classic Southern comfort meal — crispy fried chicken smothered
in creamy white gravy, served with cozy homestyle sides.

Ingredients

Country Fried Chicken

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts, halved lengthwise
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Creamy White Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Sides

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup cooked green beans
  • 1 soft breadstick or dinner roll

Instructions

  1. Dip chicken into buttermilk, then dredge in seasoned flour, pressing well to coat.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  3. For the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then slowly add milk while stirring until thick and smooth.
  4. Season gravy with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Serve chicken topped with white gravy alongside mashed potatoes, green beans, and bread.
