Ingredients
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 4 cups water (or half water, half milk for extra creaminess)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Bring water (or water and milk mixture) to a gentle boil in a saucepan.
- Slowly whisk in the grits to prevent lumps.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Cook for 15–20 minutes (or according to package directions) until thick and creamy.
- Stir in butter and salt.
- Serve warm with an extra pat of butter on top if desired.
