Classic Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast 🍞🥩

A comforting old-fashioned dish that’s creamy, salty, and full of flavor — perfect over toast or biscuits with a side of crispy potatoes.

📝 Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk (whole milk preferred)
  • 4 oz dried chipped beef, sliced into small pieces
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of paprika (optional)
  • 4 slices of toasted bread

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a light roux (don’t let it brown).
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  4. Add the chipped beef and stir until heated through and evenly coated in the creamy sauce.
  5. Season with black pepper and paprika to taste.
  6. Serve hot over buttered toast or biscuits with crispy potatoes or eggs on the side.
💡 Tip: Rinse the beef briefly in warm water before cooking if you prefer a less salty flavor.
