🍒 Classic Cherry Delight Dessert

This nostalgic Cherry Delight is a creamy, fruity, no-bake dessert that has been passed down through generations.
With its layers of buttery cookies, silky cream cheese filling, and juicy cherries on top, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for holidays, family gatherings, and weekend treats.

Ingredients

For the Base Layer:

  • 2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (or graham crackers)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)

For the Cream Layer:

  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whipped topping (or homemade whipped cream)

For the Topping:

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cookie Base

  1. In a bowl, mix crushed vanilla wafers with melted butter until well combined.
  2. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish to form an even crust.
  3. Refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to help it set.

2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling

  1. Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract; continue mixing until fully combined.
  3. Fold in the whipped topping gently using a spatula—do not overmix.

3. Layer the Dessert

  1. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled cookie crust.
  2. Spoon the cherry pie filling carefully on top, spreading it in an even layer.

4. Chill & Serve

  1. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for best texture.
  2. Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Tips

  • For a firmer crust, bake the cookie base for 8 minutes at 180°C (350°F), then cool completely.
  • Use cold cream cheese and whipped topping for a thicker filling.
  • You can replace cherries with blueberries, strawberries, or mixed berries.
  • To cut perfect slices, chill overnight and use a knife dipped in hot water.
  • Add lemon zest to the cream layer for a refreshing flavor boost.
