Cheesy Hamburger & Potato Casserole
“I’ve been making this for about a year now… Everyone calls it ‘crack’ because they can’t stop eating it!”
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 5–6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Season beef with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Spoon half of the cooked ground beef over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the soup mixture on top, then sprinkle with cheese.
- Repeat layers: potatoes → beef → soup → cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes:
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup for a lighter flavor.
- Add jalapeños or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
- For extra creaminess, mix in 1/2 cup sour cream with the soup mixture.
