Best Kentucky Blackberry Cobbler
A classic Southern-style cobbler with juicy blackberries and a buttery, golden crust.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups fresh blackberries, washed
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour the melted butter into the bottom of an 8×8 or similar baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk until you have a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish ā do not stir.
- Scatter the blackberries evenly across the batter ā again, do not stir.
- Bake for 45ā55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
- Optional: Sprinkle a little extra sugar on top before baking for extra crispness.
- Delicious served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
