Amish Winter Bliss

“I’ve made ‘Amish Winter Bliss’ three times this week, and everyone keeps asking for more!”

This cozy, hearty Amish-inspired dish combines ground beef, potatoes, carrots, and green beans in a rich, savory sauce.
It’s the perfect comfort food for cold days — simple, filling, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 large carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup green beans (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a baking dish, layer the potatoes, carrots, and green beans. Pour the meat mixture evenly on top and mix lightly.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
  7. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes for a nice finish.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy warm with crusty bread or buttered rolls for the ultimate winter comfort meal.
