Servings: 6  |  Prep Time: 20 min  |  Cook Time: 1 hr 15 min

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup crushed saltine crackers (about 24 crackers)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk (for the gravy)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil (for browning)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, milk, crushed crackers, onion, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into thick oval patties (about 8–10 pieces).
  3. In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat. Brown patties on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Do not cook through.
  4. Transfer browned patties to a baking dish.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, ½ cup milk, and Worcestershire sauce to make the gravy. Pour over the patties.
  6. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, until the patties are cooked through and tender.
  7. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or egg noodles, spooning gravy over the top.
Tip: For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of garlic powder or paprika to the meat mixture before shaping the patties.
