Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into a greased baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cocoa powder, then sprinkle over batter.
  6. Slowly pour hot water over the top (do NOT mix).
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until top is set but inside is gooey.
  8. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips

Do not overbake! The magic is in the gooey center. Serve immediately for the best lava texture.
