Cheese Twist Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 ā cups all-purpose flour
- 7g dry yeast
- 3g salt
- 180ml hot milk
- 45g butter
- 1 egg
- 125g grated cheese
- 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
- Softened butter (for brushing)
- 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
Preparation:
1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast, hot milk, butter, and egg. Stir to blend the liquids, then gradually incorporate the flour from the edges.
Once the dough starts to come together, knead it on a floured surface until smooth. Shape the dough into a ball, cover, and let it rest for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
2. Shape the Bread:
Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten into a rectangle.
Brush two of the rectangles with softened butter. Sprinkle evenly with cheese and chopped parsley. Top with the remaining rectangles to form layered sandwiches.
3. Cut and Twist:
Gently roll the layered dough with a rolling pin to flatten slightly. Cut into strips.
Pair the strips and sandwich a bit more butter between them. Twist the strips and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4. Final Steps:
Allow the twisted dough to rest for 20 minutes. Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180Ā°C (350Ā°F) for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
