🥣 Creamy Chicken and Dumplings

This dish is pure comfort—warm, creamy, and incredibly satisfying.

🧾 Ingredients

For the Soup

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Dumplings

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Start the Soup

  1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and cook until soft, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add carrots, chicken broth, chicken, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10 minutes.

2️⃣ Make the Dumplings

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add melted butter and milk; stir until a soft dough forms.

3️⃣ Add Dumplings & Cream

  1. Stir milk and cream into the soup.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the simmering soup.
  3. Cover and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.

4️⃣ Finish

  1. Check dumplings for doneness—they should be fluffy and cooked through.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning.
