Ultra Creamy Shell Pasta Salad 🥗

“This recipe is amazing! I’m already on my second batch this week.
My husband LOVES it. It’s a bit heavy on the dressing, but we don’t mind at all — so creamy!”

🧾 Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) medium shell pasta
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons milk (to thin dressing if desired)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta:
    Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook shell pasta according to package directions until al dente.
    Drain and rinse with cold water. Let cool completely.
  2. Make the creamy dressing:
    In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, vinegar (or lemon juice),
    garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Assemble the salad:
    Add cooled pasta to the dressing. Stir to coat evenly.
  4. Add mix-ins:
    Fold in shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, red onion, and green onions.
    Mix gently until everything is well combined.
  5. Adjust texture:
    If the salad is too thick, add a little milk (1 tablespoon at a time) until desired creaminess is reached.
  6. Chill:
    Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving for best flavor.
