This classic cowboy-style casserole layers seasoned ground beef with
tender beans in a rich, savory sauce. Perfect for hungry families and
anyone who loves comfort food.
🧾 Ingredients
- 1½ lb (700 g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- ¾ cup barbecue sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: diced bell pepper or cooked bacon bits
👩🍳 Preparation – Step by Step
1. Cook the Beef
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion
until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
Drain excess fat.
2. Season
Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Add barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
Mix well.
3. Add the Beans
Gently fold in baked beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans.
Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
4. Bake
Transfer mixture to a greased casserole dish.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes
until bubbly.
5. Serve
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Enjoy hot with cornbread, rice, or crusty bread.
