Grandma’s Slow Cooker Shredded Beef & Gravy

I cannot believe I finally found this recipe!
My grandma used to make this for holiday gatherings, and I would sneak bites whenever I could.
Rich, savory, and deeply comforting — a true old-fashioned guilty pleasure.

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onions evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Place the beef roast on top of the onions.
  3. Sprinkle the onion soup mix and gravy mix over the beef.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 5–6 hours, until the beef is fall-apart tender.
  6. Shred the beef directly in the slow cooker using two forks.
  7. Stir well to coat the meat with the thick, rich gravy.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve over mashed potatoes
  • Perfect with rice, egg noodles, or buttered bread
  • Great for family dinners or holiday gatherings

Tips

  • For thicker gravy, leave the lid off for the last 20 minutes.
  • Add mushrooms for extra depth.
  • Tastes even better the next day!

Classic. Cozy. Pure comfort food — just like Grandma made. ❤️
