Ingredients
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2½ cups whole milk
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until fully cooked.
- Do not drain the grease — it adds flavor.
- Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well. Cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly pour in the milk while stirring constantly.
- Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until thick and creamy.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Serve hot.
