This comforting Amish-style casserole is hearty, simple, and deeply satisfying.
Loaded with ground beef, tender potatoes, sweet carrots, green peas, and rich gravy,
it’s the kind of dish that brings everyone to the table — especially on Sundays.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and onion; cook until browned.
  3. Drain excess fat if needed. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Add beef broth and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Layer potatoes and carrots evenly in the baking dish.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture over the vegetables.
  7. Sprinkle peas evenly on top.
  8. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until potatoes are fork-tender.
  10. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
