Creamy Paprika Chicken with Golden Fries

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 300 g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika (sweet or mild)
  • 150 ml heavy cream
  • 50 ml water or chicken stock
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

For the Fries:

  • 300–400 g French fries (frozen or homemade)
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fries: Cook in the oven or air fryer according to package directions until crispy. Season with salt.
  2. Sear the chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika. Sear in a hot pan with oil or butter until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onion and garlic until softened. Add tomato paste and cook 1 minute.
  4. Simmer the cream sauce: Add paprika, cream, and water (or broth). Bring to a gentle simmer and reduce for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Combine chicken and sauce: Return chicken to the pan and coat well. Simmer 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning.
  6. Serve: Plate fries and serve with the creamy paprika chicken. Garnish with parsley.

Tips & Variations

  • Add a pinch of cayenne for heat.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles instead of fries.
  • Add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra vegetables.
