Open-Faced Sloppy Joes with Melted Cheese
Description: A quick, delicious open-faced sloppy joe recipe topped with melted cheese — perfect for parties or a fast family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 kg (2.2 lb) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 sandwich rolls or split French bread
- 2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
Directions
- Heat oil in a skillet and sauté the onion until soft.
- Add garlic, then add the ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and broth.
- Simmer on low heat 6–8 minutes until thickened. Season to taste.
- Toast the sandwich rolls lightly.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each roll.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Broil or bake until the cheese melts and bubbles.

Notes
