Easy Marinated Flank Steak

This recipe is a family favorite — juicy, tender, and loaded with incredible flavor. Perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings!

Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 1 ½ – 2 lbs flank steak
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

For the Marinade:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

1. Make the Marinade

Whisk soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, garlic, Worcestershire, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, and spices together.

2. Marinate the Steak

Place steak in a dish or bag and pour marinade over it. Marinate:

  • Minimum: 2 hours
  • Best: 8–12 hours
  • Max flavor: Overnight

3. Cook

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill to high heat. Cook steak:

  • 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare
  • 5–6 minutes per side for medium

4. Rest the Steak

Let it rest for 10 minutes.

5. Slice & Serve

Slice thinly against the grain. Optional: simmer leftover marinade for 2–3 minutes and drizzle on top.

Tips

  • Double the sauce — everyone loves it!
  • Serve with potatoes, veggies, rice, or salad.
  • Oil grill grates to prevent sticking.
